He has also engaged in roles outside of a typical IT remit such as auditing, pre-sales, sales, and marketing as required by the business. These peripheral roles also allowed Darren to travel throughout the US and Europe delivering sales initiatives, product demonstrations and technical training. During his career Darren has experienced all areas of IT until finally specialising in infrastructure and security. To support these specialisms Darren has attained several technical and management industry certifications including PRINCE2, TOGAF and MCSE. Darren has broad industry experience gained from working with large enterprise and SMEs in sectors such as forestry, brewing, finance, oil, manufacturing, distribution and technology. As an IT consultant Darren has worked on several international projects including the rationalisation of infrastructure for SAB Miller (bought by AB InBev (BUD) in 2016 for $107B), disaster recovery and failover from New York to London for Christies auctions, system process audits for Amadeus (AMS) in Germany as well as GDPR and ISO compliance projects. Darren has advised and collaborated on a number of mergers and acquisitions including the merger of two financial institutions, the acquisition of a specialist GIS company in the US, and sales and software companies in the UK and Switzerland. Darren has consulted with several companies to support their compliance efforts, particularly with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018; and has also with two software companies to attain and maintain ISO 27001 compliance. In these engagements Darren has managed and developed processes and audit procedures to ensure on-going adherence to the standards.
